About Me

Hey y’all! My name is Hannah and I also go by soluna413. I’m a Korean-American born in California and raised in NY, and after completing my BA in Anthropology with a minor in Spanish, I now teach English abroad in St. Petersburg, Russia. I adore languages and culture, and I have an extreme love of traveling and learning about different ways of life. I began my foray into the world of k-dramas many moons ago and haven’t been able to turn back since. I find watching dramas to be comforting as well as inducing fangirly tendencies because it makes me feel connected to my ethnicity while simultaneously providing me with countless hours of mind-numbing entertainment.

Along with k-dramas, I am completely and utterly obsessed with movies (I’m one of those people who can watch a movie over and over until I’m able to quote along with the dialogue) and shopping is my guilty pleasure that I turn to whenever I need stress relief. Along with starting this blog, I was a member of the k-drama fansubbing team WITHS2 as a translator. Thanks for coming, and hope you enjoy your stay!

Random facts about me:

  • I speak three languages, English being my mother tongue, Korean and Spanish. I’m also learning Russian and have taken classes in both French and American Sign Language. It’s one of my goals in life to become fluent in at least five languages.
  • I absolutely adore children and my dream is to work at an orphanage in the future.. or maybe even open up my own.
  • I collect DVDs and have hundreds of them in my prized stash.
  • I love fashion and I consider it a blessing that I don’t have the money to buy myself designer-name clothing and/or accessories because I’d probably drive myself into bankruptcy if I did.
  • I cannot tolerate ignorance and injustice. I’m not afraid to fight for what I think is right.
  • And last but not least, I started my activities with WITHS2 as a translator in January of 2010 initially because I wanted to make my knowledge of the Korean language and culture more extensive, and although I am unable to continue with my translating because of how busy I have become, my experiences as a fansubber greatly contributed to my reconnecting with my Korean roots and appreciating just how vast the Hallyu wave has become.

  1. Hi Hannah!

    Welcome to the blogosphere!

Thank you so much for all that you do on WithS2!

I see that “Alone in Love” is in your to-watch list. This show is one of my top three k-dramas so I can’t wait to read your opinion on it after you’ve seen it.

  2. Hey Doozy! It’s good to see you around these parts. And thanks for the encouragement, I love working with WITHS2 and it’s my pleasure to contribute as much as I can.

I’ve actually watched the first few episodes of Alone in Love and I’m intrigued by the dynamics between Sohn Ye Jin and Gam Woo Sung, but with all the dramas on my plate right now I can’t continue it just yet. But I really liked what I saw so far, and I can’t wait to get the chance to just marathon through once I get the chance.

Hope to see you around more frequently~ 😀

  3. Hi Hannah, I’ve enjoyed looking at your blog and added you to my list of blogs to follow. I’m with Doozy- Alone In Love ranks as an all-time favorite drama for me. PT makes me want to rewatch it because of SYJ. A huge thank you to you for joining S2 and translating! Being an adoptive mom to Korean children, I tried so hard to learn about Korea- studied the language, attended Korean church, etc- but it wasn’t until I found Korean dramas that I began to understand it. I am so very thankful for the hard work of translators that allow me to be part of the Kdrama world. Thank you!!

  4. Hiiiii Julie Unni! I’m so glad you’ve stopped by. This blog was just a decision made on a whim to analyze and gush the dramas I’m working on, but it’s actually started to mean more now that my lovely fellow subbers are dropping by once in a while. So thank you Unni! And Alone in Love is just waiting for me to continue with it.. I only need to wait a few days until I can. 😀

  5. Thank you! I like it a lot too~ 🙂 And I actually don’t know, I just changed the theme on it and this was how it was designed. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help to ya!

  6. Hey Maggie! Wow, it’s an honor to have you read my blog. This is actually one of two that I have and I think you’d be more inclined to reading my other one. It’s on my blogroll and it’s called Just Breathe. I’m using this one to discuss fansubbing and watching korean shows. 😛

  7. Hi, soluna. Just found your blog and enjoing here. Really love it. I knowyou since 2010 with your perfect translation in my fav dramas.

The reason I write you is because I need some help and decide to ask you would you like to help me.

I tring to translate one TV show “Golden Fishery” with Lee Jun Ki. It’s two parts in 40 – 45 minutes. I found one girl who translate first part but she needs someone who help her with second part. I know maybe you are not fan of Lee Jun Ki, but I think all Jun Ki fans will be really grateful to you if you can help them to watch something translate with thir favourite star who is in mlitary now. I can make the timing… But can you help?
